Guided tour of the medieval town for school groups and leisure centers
A propos
La Roche-sur-Foron is known as the second most historic city in Haute-Savoie! It was also the former capital of the County of Geneva in the 11th and 12th centuries. 1000 years of history and more await you.
With our Savoie Mont-Blanc Heritage Guide, you'll discover the narrow streets and 13th-century gates of the historic Plain Château district. Magnificent noble houses from the 16th and 17th centuries, as well as the merchant's bench or grain measure dating from 1558, will immerse you in the atmosphere of a prosperous era.
The district was once protected by three city gates, the Châteaux de Saix and de l'Echelle and the Tour-donjon of the Counts of Geneva.
Depending on the concepts studied in class, the visit can also focus more specifically on a particular era (e.g. the Middle Ages, or the 19th century with the rise of industry and urban planning).
